3. Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

(1) be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically; For applicants who used to be Chinese citizens but later immigrated to other countries, the conditions set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China should be met. 

(2) be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 30 when applying for a Master’s program;

be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;

(3) have TOEFL results not lower than 85 or IELTS results not lower than 6.0.

4. Application Process

An applicant shall fill in and submit the application materials online via the Online Application System of Hebei University of Technology for International Students (hebut.studyinchina.top).

Click “Register” and create your account (Please fill in valid email address)   →    Activate account through your email and start applying   →   Select your scholarship program    →   Select your major   →   Fill in the application information online.

5. Application Documents

(1) A scanned copy of the Passport Information Page (Expiry date later than September 2026). If the validity of the current passport does not meet the requirement, please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;

(2) Diploma and certificate of highest education (notarized photocopy). An applicant who is a current university student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by his/her university;

(3) Academic transcripts. Transcripts should include results from the undergraduate, master's (if any), doctoral (if any) stage to the most recent semester. Transcripts should be issued and stamped by the academic affairs office, graduate school or the student administration department. Transcripts should be provided in Chinese/English. If the transcript is in a language other than English, an English translation must be provided and notarized;

(4) Certificate of language proficiency. An applicant shall provide a certificate of English proficiency, such as the IELTS or TOEFL test report or other documents to prove English proficiency;

(5) A study plan written in English (no less than 1500 words), please use the template specified by HEBUT(Study Plan Template);

(6) Recommendation letters. An applicant for a postgraduate program shall submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or in English from professors or associate professors;

(7) An applicant shall submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (the original document, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, shall be filled in in English and kept by the applicant). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Medical examination results are valid for only six months;

(8) An applicant shall submit a valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within six months prior to the submission date of the application;

(9) Financial report (Certificate of Bank Saving or Income Certificate of Financial Guarantor);

(10) Other attachments: If necessary, applicants can provide evidence of learning ability and comprehensive quality (such as award certificates, internship certificates, etc.).

Note: All uploaded certificates or notarized documents must be in Chinese or English. If the original documents are in other languages, the original documents and certified translations should be submitted together. Applicants who provide fake materials will be disqualified from admission and scholarship.

6. Evaluation-Interview

   HEBUT will select the best candidates for interview according to the submitted materials of students. Interview date will be announced afterwards. Please pay attention to your email timely.

7. Fees and Charges

(1) Application fee: 600 CNY (Nonrefundable).

(2) Tuition fee:

① Master’s program: 22,000 CNY/ academic year( Management Science and Engineering 20,000 CNY/ academic year)

② Doctoral program: 30,000 CNY/ academic year

8. Scholarship Coverage

1. CSC Program for HEBUT

Supporting Program: (1) Master’s program: Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering

    Scholarship: (1) Free tuition (2) Off campus accommodation subsidy (3) Living expenses: Master’s students 3,000 CNY/month; Doctoral students 3,500 CNY /month (4) Medical insurance: 800 CNY/person/year

2. Hebei Provincial Government-HEBUT Scholarship

Supporting Program: (1) Master’s program: Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Management Science and Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Mathematics

Scholarship: (1) Master’s program

First-class scholarship(Type A): Tuition subsidy (full); Living subsidy 20,000 CNY/ academic year; Free university dormitory (Double Room)

First-class scholarship(Type B): Tuition subsidy (full); Living subsidy 20,000 CNY/ academic year

Second-class scholarship: Tuition subsidy (full); Free university dormitory (Double Room) 

(2) Doctoral program

First-class scholarship (Type A): Tuition subsidy (full); Living subsidy 30,000 CNY/ academic year; Free university dormitory (Single Room)

First-class scholarship (Type B): Tuition subsidy (full); Living subsidy 30,000 CNY/ academic year

Second-class scholarship: Tuition subsidy (full); Free university dormitory (Single Room)

Note: ① The Mathematics and Materials Science and Engineering majors are only eligible for the First-class Scholarship (Type B) and the Second-class Scholarship. 

② For students who apply Hebei Provincial Government-HEBUT Scholarship, according to the application documents, School of International Education (SIE) will grant the applicants the scholarship. From the second academic year, international students are required to do the Scholarship Annual Review. Based on the results of Scholarship Annual Review, scholarship will be determined by SIE. The students who break the law or regulations will have their scholarships suspended or canceled in accordance with the policy.
